How will we live in the future when flexibility becomes the norm; use is more important than ownership and the circulair economy really starts rolling. In 2015 the building corporation Havensteder set up a competition that centers around this subject. David Hess, an associate from studio Kraaijvanger, tackled the challenge head-on and won with the innovative Hub: a modular, attractive living compartment that can be installed and dissembled almost everywhere. The utilities contained withing the Hub are connected to the existing electrics and plumbing via single point and wiring in the base. The jury praised Hess’ design for it’s flexibility, design and thought out functionality.

With the price money of 50,000 euro’s Hess build a prototype that’s been in use since January in a former office. The Hub forms the centerpiece of what is now a redeveloped home for a tenant. But how does it look in real life and above all, how does it actually work? On Wednesday 13th of April, the creator will take us through the process from the drawing board to the actual installment. How far can we stretch the flexibility when it comes to living space, and how does an architect embrace this flexible and especially new way of thinking. To top it off we get to meet the tenant that actually lives in the Hub and we get to see what the fuzz is all about.

From 7:30 pm until 10 pm
at Het Gele Gebouw, Zomerhofstraat 76
